Pregnancy Massage

When the body is tense and under stress, it produces unhealthy levels of the well-known stress hormone, cortisol, which can contribute to weight gain, sleeplessness, digestive problems, and headaches. Massage therapy has been shown to decrease cortisol levels in the body. Now more than ever we all need to take time to look after ourselves.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), sometimes called manual lymphatic therapy, uses light touch to move excess lymph and fluid out of the tissues and back into the lymphatic vessels. Although often referred to as a type of massage, MLD is quite different from traditional forms of massage that rely on deep and rigorous rubbing. If you have experienced sleep issues, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, swelling in the legs (or anywhere else), it’s a good sign you could benefit from MLD. Manual lymph drainage is not painful and can promote lymph health and natural drainage. It is a gentle massage technique that does a lot of work in the body. MLD can be beneficial for those with fluid retention, puffy ankles in pregnancy, recurring infections, pre- and post-surgery, stress and anxiety. Benefits include: Better sleep, strengthened immune system, more energy, resolved sinus issues, improves cellulite, relieves stress and anxiety.

Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
During a sports/deep tissue massage, the therapist applies slow but firm pressure to reach deeper layers of the muscle and the skin. It penetrates and softens the hard, tight muscles. Although sports massage is used for sports people, it can benefit anyone experiencing tight muscles, through any walk of life. Benefits include: Increased joint range of motion (ROM), increased flexibility, increased sense of well-being, decreased muscle tension, decreased muscle spasms, better sleep.

Sports massage on leg

Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Anyone who has ever received cancer treatment, from those in active treatment to those in recovery or survivorship, as well as those at the end of life, are best served by a massage therapist who has received training in oncology massage. Benefits include: deep relaxation, better sleep, increased immune system function, increased blood circulation, relief of anxiety, reducing pain, produces a sense of well-being and worth, reducing fatigue, relieves peripheral neuropathy symptoms, reducing nausea.

Pregnancy Massage
Massage in pregnancy is a wonderful experience. It helps a woman relax, supports her body through a period of physiological change and helps to prepare the whole body for birth. Massage in pregnancy can help to relieve aches and pains, promotes relaxation and sleep therefore helping to  release vital 'feel good' hormones that also benefits baby.
